The LRTP ensures the proper management and efficient operations of transportation systems within the County as well as complements regional planning initiatives. The process, managed by the MPO, requires analysis of current economic trends, an examination of socioeconomic conditions in planning areas, and the preparation of a final transportation vision for the Lee and Collier Urbanized Areas. While this process requires significant input from technical committees, government leaders, and regional planning agencies, a key participant in the LRTP update process is the public at-large.

The LRTP development process will include three series of public involvement meetings. Each series will include a meeting in each of six planning areas in Collier and Lee Counties.
